Write About Your Pets [ages 9-12]

Writing About Pets, February 7th from 10AM to 12PM, Ages 9 to 12

It’s about time the world knows about the weird things your cat does. Or how you dress up your bearded dragon. In this quick workshop, we’ll explore prompts and exercises to create fun written pieces about your beloved creatures.

Fiction 101 (on Zoom!), 6 Tuesdays, March 3rd to April 7th 5- 7pm, Ages 9 to 12

Fiction 101 [ages 9-12]

Characters. Visions. Turning points. Fiction writing is not just putting together a string of words that convey a basic message; it’s exploring the corners of your brain, having imaginary conversations, creating a world down to its last detail. This session’s challenge will be plumbing the depths of our imaginations to create a cohesive story – but don’t worry, we’ll stop to refuel with lots of fun creativity-building exercises along the way.

Fiction 101, VIRTUAL ON ZOOM, 6 Tuesdays, Apr. 14th-May 19th, 5 to 7PM, (Ages 15 to 18)

Fiction 101 [ages 15-18]

Sharpen up your storytelling by working on fiction elements: plot, characters, dialogue, all the vivid stuff that’s fun to make up in your head! Don’t know whether your work will be flash fiction, a short story, a novel, something else…? Gretchen will help you with pacing, too, as your story concept unfolds.

Fanfiction Workshop, In-Person at Quarry, 4 Saturdays, Apr. 4th-25th, 10am-12pm, Ages 12 to 15

Fan Fiction Workshop [ages 12-15]

Have you ever wished you could write for your favorite Netflix series? Or you really don’t like the way one of your many favorite webcomics ended? Here is your chance to rewrite canon, expand your favorite story, or design an alternate universe with your favorite characters. Maybe even a crossover is in order.

We’ll do a variety of prompts and exercises to generate ideas. Feel free to bring a project you’re already working on.
