Events & Workshops

Looking for a chance to see me read at an event? Are you looking for a Richmond, Virginia area writing tutor, teacher, workshop leader? Or maybe you’d prefer a virtual setting?

With 8 years of teaching experience, I have led public school classrooms, private workshops, 1:1 sessions, and so much more. From teaching budding readers the skills they need to grow their skills to helping students refine their college essays with their authentic voice and style, I would love to teach you or your student something new!

Take a look at what I have to offer below. Updates will be made when new workshops or events hit, so bookmark this page and follow me on Instagram at @writinggales to see my latest events around the area and virtually.

In-Person & Virtual Events & Readings

Richmond Zine Fest (October 11th, 2025)

In-Person & Virtual Classes & Workshops

Fiction 101 (Virtual) (Ages 9 to 12)

6 Tuesdays, September 23rd – October 28th, 5-7pm, $185

Characters. Visions. Turning points. Fiction writing is not just putting together a string of words that convey a basic message; it’s exploring the corners of your brain, having imaginary conversations, creating a world down to its last detail. This session’s challenge will be plumbing the depths of our imaginations to create a cohesive story – but don’t worry, we’ll stop to refuel with lots of fun creativity-building exercises along the way.

Creative Nonfiction Workshop (Virtual) (Ages 15 to 18)

6 Thursdays, Sept. 25-Oct. 30, 5-7pm, $185

Everyone has a story to tell. Why not you?

From personal essays to memoir and much more, this creative writing workshop will explore the many ways you can share your experience or other true stories. Together, we’ll read a variety of creative nonfiction examples and write and workshop our own creations.

This is especially useful for those looking to improve their college essays, personal statements, and similar assignments, though also wonderful for those looking to tell their story creatively without external pressures.
