Looking for someone to coach your child in English and Language Arts? Looking for specially designed instruction and an individualized approach to your child’s education? Or maybe looking for someone to review your child’s college application essays?
I’m a certified teacher with an endorsement in ELA instruction in the state of Virginia, though I have helped many families virtually in other states. I have spent 6 years in a public school English classroom before transitioning to private tutoring through my own company as well as Smart Solutions Tutoring, LLC . I am also currently earning my endorsement in Special Education and am in my second year of working directly with students in English classes who need writing and reading intervention and specially designed instruction. So if you are looking for a tutor near you in Richmond, Virginia or beyond, I can help!
I take pride in my neurodivergent identity, and if you or your child identify as neurodivergent, you may find us to be a good match!
Can You Help My Child with College Essays?
Yes! I can help your student craft their voice and make it authentic to their strengths. I do NOT, however, write the essay for them. Please don’t make it awkward by asking if I’ll do that.
My Child has A Reading Disability. Can You Help Them?
Yes! I am trained in reading interventions designed for children with disabilities and beyond. If your child has difficulties with reading, I am trained in specially designed instruction for reading disabilities, executive functioning skills, and more.
What Does Neurodivergent Mean?
Great question! Neurodivergence is a big umbrella describing variations in the human brain. It’s frequently used to describe those with autism spectrum disorder, but also includes anxiety, ADHD, Tourette’s, OCD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other conditions. I have several of these, so many students find me relatable because of it.
Does My Kid Have to Be Neurodivergent to Work with You?
Not at all! I love working with kids all of ages, stages, and identities. I just find that a lot of neurodivergent kids like to work with me.
Why Does It Matter That YOu’re Neurodivergent?
Many students look for someone “like them” in the classroom or as a role model of sorts. They crave representation, whether they know it or not. Though being neurodivergent doesn’t necessarily mean that we will be the perfect fit, I’ve had a positive track record of great experiences and positive testimonials from kids who self-identify as “quirky,” “weird,” or “different” in some way.
